Don't count Elk Grove out when it comes to major league soccer. A group that's been working to bring the league to the city still believes it has a shot.
"First of all, we have the biggest youth soccer market in the country. But, I think, more than that, we've been working for two years with the league, we almost have land available, we're finalizing our term sheet, we have a rendition of what a stadium would look like," Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis said.
Davis says an ownership group is on board and interested.
Davis says the city has a two-year head start over Sacramento, making them more than ready to compete for a team.
