Google is looking to open an office in San Francisco's Mission District.
The Internet giant will take over a 35,000-square-foot building that will hold 200 employees.
The company has come under fire for shuttling employees out of the city to its Mountain View headquarters on luxury "Google Buses."
Having a presence in San Francisco will keep Google near a large pool of technology workers, who are in high demand and prefer to live in the city.
Google also plans to open an office in San Francisco's South Park neighborhood that will house its Google Ventures division.
