Local Red Cross Volunteer Heads to Colorado

SACRAMENTO -- A local Red Cross volunteers are heading to Colorado this week to help support flood relief efforts.

Michael Jamie will fly to Denver tomorrow morning where he will work with local businesses that provide supplies to those in need.

"I won't be working in a shelter capacity, but more with the administrative, logistical side of the operations," Jamie said.

It's a new role for the eight-year volunteer.

"Last time I was in Colorado, I was there during the Colorado Fires doing sheltering and divide in Colorado Springs," he said.

He's also helped victims of Hurricanes Isaac and Sandy,  and most recently assisted at the Rim Fire Shelter in Sonora.

"It's not an adrenaline rush -- it's just a rush internally to the heart knowing that you're out there helping,"

Jamie's flight will leave Sacramento just before 9 a.m.
