Sacramento County Launches Testing Program Due to High STD Rates

L.A. County has a program called "I Know" program, which was put into action in 2009, and allows patients to test themselves for STDs at no cost in the privacy of their own homes. Alameda and San Diego counties have similar programs offering the confidential and free home test kits, and Sacramento County health officials are now going hand out similar test kits paid for by the state.

Sacramento County has consistently had among the highest rates of chlamydia and gonorrhea in the state for young women between the ages of 15 and 24.
