Statewide Manhunt for Cal Fire Chief Continues

The manhunt continues for a murder suspect who is usually associated with saving lives.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is searching for a Cal Fire battalion chief believed to have killed his fiancee 26-year-old Sarah Douglas in their Sacramento County home.

This happened in the 9300 block of Fox River Way on Thursday, and Sacramento County Sheriff's spokeswoman Lisa Bowman says Fleming is believed to have left the Sacramento area and is known to have ties to Fresno.

News10 reports that family members found Douglas dead with blood everywhere after they heard a violent argument between the couple over the phone.

They also say Douglas, a single mom with a six-year-old son, was planning to move out of the home she shared with Fleming next week.

Authorities are seeking information on the whereabouts of Orville Fleming  a 55-year-old white male, with brown eyes and brown hair who is a battalion chief for Cal Fire.

Fleming's Cal Fire truck was found abandoned in Elk Grove last night, but a search turned up nothing. The 2007 white Chevy pickup with "CAL FIRE" painted on the side was located unoccupied by the Elk Grove Police Department at Black Kite and Apricot Woods Way in Elk Grove.

Police say Douglas was stabbed, though an exact cause of death has not been determined, and it's likely that Fleming was cut in the altercation as well.

Investigators say they consider him to be a suicide risk and are asking the public's help in locating him and taking him into custody alive.

Anyone who thinks they have seen Fleming is encouraged to call officials at 916-874-5115.
